I was told my HCG was a 38 and the next week i bled really bad with chunks of blood for 4 hours straight and had bad cramps for 2 straight days. I have never in my life bled like that or had cramps. I went into the Doctors to get a check up and my HCG levels dropped to a 2. The Doctor said i miscarried. Does that sound right???

mine did not check for HCG levels. She did many other blood tests and an ultrasound to see how how far along the baby is and to make sure the baby was OK.

Often MDs take blood to check HCG level to see if the baby is growing, and can also guesstimate how prego you are if you aren't sure.
My MD & I didn't agree on my conception date, so we checked my HCG levels a couple of times. I was closer than she was based on LMP.

Not sure if every doctor does it. I had a ton of blood taken at my first doctor's appointment, I honestly don't know what all they were testing for.

Usually they only do one test unless you have had previous miscarriages like I did and then they would do weekly tests.
