Soldiers marching down the street on various days throughout the year.
football field size tapestries of the current president draped over buildings.
Statues of Neoconservative government officials as well as soldiers placed in all public places.
Camps full of single mothers and poor people.

Something like Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451". Not "1984". There would be some similarities, but "1984" was about Communism, not Fascism.

if economics 101 were properly taught in schools that would happen. Democrat candidates would get booed off the stage every time they promise to raise corporate taxes.

Also the answers referencing Nazis and the Third Reich are very amusing. Hitler abolished unearned income (investing in stocks,) nationalized entire industries, and confiscated people's guns. Those are hardly Republican ideals.
