How much will more RAM help with incressing by proccessor speed?

I also would like to add that the processor is a AMD Athelon 64X2 +3800 running at currently 2.1GHZ I also have 1 gig ram and i want to know how much another gig will help the speed. Also how much will a Nvidia GeForce 8500GT if at all incresse my processor speed

I have about the same machine. You will not notice much speed increase with more ram, because you already have plenty. I would say more ram would probably help about 15% on your speed.

I think most of these answers are wrong.

At least, for you they are. I assume you are trying to run games considering you listed your video card. Most newly released games (crysis, COD4 etc..) require AT LEAST 1 gig of ram. The more ram you have, the faster your CPU can process the textures as there won't be a bottleneck. You will notice a large increase in your framerate (no more stutters) if you add another gig of ram. My answer ONLY applies to you if you use your computer for mostly video games. Also, alot of people run craploads of background programs nowadays. If your computer is being slowed down because of this, it will alieviate the lag. I like to have 2-3 programs in my tray or less at all times.

Most people give the answer that ram won't speed up your computer. While generically true, most people don't realize that if the computer is being bottlenecked because of the ram, there will be a large increase in speed if more is added. RAM is one place you don't want a bottleneck.

neither of them increase the processor speed, but both help reduce the load on your processor so that it performs cooler and better, but not necassarily faster? i dont know if that makes sense, but thats how it is.

RAM helps with running applications, because everything you do on your applications is stored in RAM until you save it onto your harddrive and then close the application, so the more applications you have running for the longer amount of time, takes up more RAM, while you processor is stuck trying to keep all your applications open without overheating.

its a bit confusing i guess. thats a good Video card by the way, i'm looking into the 8600 for christmas. anyways, that card has its own processor, so it takes some of the pressure off your CPU when it comes to the graphical stuff..

actually, i think i'm making this up as i go along. it makes sense to me, but i get into these rambles where i just start talking like i know everything just cuz i think its right.. someone double check me

RAM and Processor speed are significant, and the video card is the main serious of all. 2 GB is cautioned for gaming. Gaming desktops could be very quickly, or you will in basic terms be waiting to play older video games. the excellent processors are middle 2 duo, you may get ddr2 800mhz ram, and a radeon 1900xtx video card in case you've gotten sufficient funds it.

Hi. Neither increases the CPU speed. RAM allows more programs to be run at once and the video card will use the GPU processor to 'unload' the CPU. Not make it faster, but games will play better.

it does not increase processing speed of your processor... it does however increase over all performance of your PC in terms of running your applications and tasks... especially in heavy games.
