i grew up on us/can. border, very close to Ottawa. Im an American, and love my country. Im reading lots of things from people who obviously have never been to Canada. I played hockey all my life, but as a kid, we had few rinks to practice at. They graciously gave us ice time, and invited us to play every year in their leagues, tournaments, etc. I played div.1 in college, and would never have w/out the skills. ive seen awsome concerts, "blue rodeo' ,,, got arrested on st. catherines st., Stones at the sky dome.. brador and sleemans in the cooler, and make it home w/ a little north slope jaboobie left. rideau canal, shania, landsdown pk,, im so glad theyre our neighbors, we are lucky to have them.. what other country would we want next to us??

Canada bashers? That's our job! We are the ones with the inferiority complex, not the US.

To answer your question, I would not want any other country next to us meaning the US. I was born about 15 mins from the Canadian Border. Have family in the Niagara Region(Thorold). Seen Niagara Falls over 300 times. I have always loved going to Canada. Part of the reason why growing up playing hockey in upstate NY was so competitive was playing some Canadian teams. I give props to Canada. Though I am older now and think micro-brews rule, I still have a spot in my heart for Labatt's and Molson as well. Beats that Anhueser-Busch swill.

Come visit us in Saskatchewan some time! What might be the ultimate "Canadian activity" is watching the RCMP Sunset Ceremony on July 1 in Regina (capital of what the late Peter Gzowski called "the most Canadian of all the provinces") and then catching the Canada Day fireworks in Wascana Park.

I like Canada a lot, even though I live in the US. Actually, i like Canada a little bit better, as sad as that is. I mean, with hockey as my favorite sport, no one here in Cali seems to understand the beauty and complexities of the game. They're all obsessed with football and baseball and all that fun stuff over here. Dont get me wrong, i love football (not so crazy about baseball), but sometimes i wish i would fit in with my love for hockey. I mean, here in San Jose there are plenty of Sharks fans, but that's all they are, SHARKS fans. They arent fans of the actual game, which makes hockey conversations hard to hold.

Sooooo......im glad Canada is so close, i might actually move there once im done with school. I would freeze my @ss off, but hey...its all worth it

And here I thought you were a good guy until I seen the Brador part. That stuff is brutal.
Over last 20 years I've spent about 60% of my time in the US. I've spent time in every major city on both sides and most secondary cities as well. There really is very little difference in the people, we both have some really good people and some really not so good.

I think Canada's just easy to make fun of...igloo jokes are too easy. Most people actually appreciate the good things The Great White North has to offer. They provide good hockey and good beer, 2 of my favorite things.

We got Mexico as a neighboring country, and millions of Mexicans crossing the border by the year! What more can we ask for as Americans?

I'm from Ohio (Blue Jackets fan here) and have been to Canada. It's beautiful. If only Mexico could be like our friends to the north.

Wait, are there yankees that actually bash Canadians? I'm sure there's jokes (both ways), but genuine 'bashing'? I hope not, the US / Canada are extremely lucky to have common border.

I wonder if the US and Canada could ever 'merge'. If nothing else, we could 'downsize' the politicians. (But Canada would have to kick out Alan Thicke as part of the deal).

I've heard Canadian jokes and have made jokes regarding maple syrup and gravy fries, but I love Canada. I may move there after I finish school. Plus I have met my share of hot ass Canadians........is it something in the water? Or does maple syrup do a body good.......... JK
