do i have to change tires if i have custom wheels installed on my car? i want them to be 20's or 22's (stock is 18's) but same width...

depends on exactly what you mean - I figure you already know you have to to get 20" tires with 20" rims and you don't need to change the width - the sidewall will just be shorter but the tire will have the same overall dimensions (height and width)
you can use a tire size calculator to find out exactly what tire size you need

everything changes when you install new rims you'll have to get new tires with the rims
18' is the rim size as well as the inner diameter of the tire, tires are not rubber bands.
20' rims will need 20' inner diameter tires, good luck

Sure you will. The tire size has to be the same size as the rim. If you have 22" then you need 22" tires.

Take it for a full service at a reputable mechanic, then the least you can do is make sure that there's petrol, iol and water in your car.And remember to check you tyre pressure-always(especially on a long trip in the hot South African sun).Good luck!
