Do you guys think we should do this and get rid of primaries altogether?

Louisiana currently uses something close to that method. It's an open election. If a candidate gets over 50% of the vote, they are declated the winner. If no candidate gets 50%, then a run off is held afterwards between the top two vote getters.

Should primaries be done away with? Primaries were created so that voters of a party would have the oppertunity to select their nominness instead of party bosses.

If you eleminted them, it would be a step backwards. We'd take a step back towards the back smoke filled rooms of party bosses and hacks picking candidates for us.

Party primaries must be removed so that candidates will directly file their applications and when admitted, the people must already vote to determine the winner dispensing with the misguiding primaries.
