This year, the Geminid shower is visible from about December 7 to 17, but the peak (the best time to see them) is the night of December 14 into the morning of December 15. It has a broad peak, so you should see an excellent show all night (but you need to be at a dark site away from city lights).

The best viewing of any meteor shower is anytime after midnight. The Geminid shower is named for the constellation Gemini - that is where the "radiant" is, the point in the sky the meteors seem to originate from). But they can appear almost anywhere in the night sky, and often appear yellowish in hue. The radiant for this shower is overhead just after midnight.

Meteors could start showing up anytime after dark this evening, Dec. 13, low on the eastern horizon. A better display should begin after 10 p.m. or so local time, when the constellation Gemini, from which the meteors emanate, rises higher into the Eastern sky.

By 2 a.m. local time Friday, Dec. 14, Gemini is directly overhead, and meteors will streak outward in all directions like spokes on a wheel, weather permitting.

Forecasters predict one or two shooting stars per minute during the peak hours.

Be patient

"For those whose appetite for "shooting stars" was whetted by last months spectacular Leonid meteor shower, the Geminid meteor shower will reach peak activity Thursday night, Dec. 13, and into the early hours of Friday morning."

I think it may be tomorrow too. Because I originally read it was to be Friday. It is called the Geminid.
