My daughter was a bald baby. She started getting her hair in pretty good after her first birthday. She turned 2 in October, and just had her fist haircut a few weeks ago.
My son was also bald. He is now 7.5 months old, and his hair started to come in about a month or so ago. I think he may need a haricut before the summer.

My daughter had a little bit of fuzz and not much hair even by her first birthday....she was ALWAYS mistaken for a boy even when I dressed her in pink outfits. I would just nicely say she was a girl when people referred to her as "what a cute boy". She is now 13 and has very long incredibly thick hair. By the time she turned 3 she had a full head of hair so don't worry...your baby is only 5 weeks old with most babies that young it is hard to tell if they are a boy or girl. The funny part is I used to get offended at times when she was mistaken for a boy but when I look at old pictures of her I can now see why people thought that (LOL). Just focus on the important thing....you have a healthy baby so who cares if she is mistaken for a boy for a little while.

I don't have any kids, but I was a bald baby...actually I didn't even have enough hair for a clip until I was 2 and didn't have my first haircut until I was about 4.

Since all I had was peach-fuzz, my mom used to use a little piece of double-sided tape and stick bows on the top of my head. She also made sure I was always in a dress or clothes that could not be mistaken for boy outfits.

My daughter is 2 months old and she was born bald. Her hair looks loike it is starting to grow or it might be my wishful thinking. Anyway as far as people calling her a boy, it happens on a daily basis even when she's in all pink. Some people are just stupid I guess. It bothers me a little but like I told my mom. It could be a little boy that everyone thinks is a girl!! I don't use the headbands because I don't like them. Mymom used to use clear Karo syrup to stick bows non my head because I was bald until around age 2.

I have taken photos all her life of a relative, a girl who now at 7 years old has long dark- blonde hair. She looked bald for most of her first year. For the next few years of those photos she had what her mother called peach fuzz on her head. It was very short very blond hair that you would have had to look at carefully to see there was any there. Her mother put on a girlie-style hair band so that it was clear she was a girl. As soon as it had any length she always wore a hair bow. Now her hair is a great feature so years of peach fuzz are not an indication of anything to come in appearance.

I had twins... the girl had short straight hair, the boy had long curly hair, and long eyelashes... it was tough for the girl.. the boy LOOKED like a boy.

It took my baby girl well over 6 months to have any noticible hair. You can get some little headbands for babies with bows on them to put on your little baby's head, that should help...

It's funny how you can put pink frillys on a girl, and some doofus will still think she's a boy, huh? They just don't pay attention.

My oldest was wearing cute little pony tails with bows in her hair, and a western vest, jeans, and a flannel shirt (it was cold) the stewardess asked me how old my little boy was... I was shocked! My girl LOOKED like a girl. She was about 1 1/2 years old, and definitely a girl. Just wearing warm clothes.

Just smile and know that YOU know she's a girl.

Good luck.

Even if your baby has hair weird people would still call her a boy. Trust me. Our daughter has tons of hair and I have dressed her in hot pink and lace and some old ladies still call her a boy. I finally asked one of them why they thought a boy would be wearing a pink shirt, the lady told me she thought that she was a boy because she had jeans on. People are weird ... My cousin was a baldy until he was almost 2! Even then his hair was so light and thin, you could barely tell he had hair until he was 4 or 5.

my baby girl was bald, the best thing to do is get cute hats with pink and lace to put on her. It never mattered though, some people are still going to say that no matter what she is wearing, you will find people are dumb, my baby girl was dressed all in pink and a bonnet and someone said what a cute boy. Yah at the gay pride parade. lol. It took until she was 2 1/2 to have much hair

Certain people are going to continue to call babies the opposite sex whether they have hair or not, and whether they look like a boy or girl or not, i think its just one of those things sent to try us.......lol
I you and your baby are happy and comfortable then who cares what others think....
My 3rd child was born with that much hair that he actually had his first hair cut at 7 weeks old cos it kept getting in his eyes. meanwhile the 2nd one only had a fine covering and the 1st and 4th were pretty hairy too. I always got people asking if they were boys or girls, and it didn't matter about their hair or the colour of their clothes......lmao

My first daughter didn't have her haircut until she was 2 1/2 and that was only 1 curl in the back to even it out. She is now 5 1/2 and we've only had 3 haircuts. My second daughter is going to be 2 in a couple of months and no haircut for her yet.

It's frustrating when you dress your little girl in pink from head to toe and make them carry a pink blankie and somebody calls them a boy, but the more it happens, the easier it gets.

You could pierce her ears, but I can't seem to make myself go through that, I don't even like sitting with them for shots, and they need those!!!
