The biggest threats are Download websites. This includes P2P file sharing websites and bogus share music sites.

The next big threat is finding the wrong sites at Google and other search engines. Be sure to look at the website URL before clicking on it. Close the window immediately if you feel threatened with popups.

Then there is the SPAM and Joke e-mails that your friends send you. Some of this crap can be ridden with spyware and other threats that slow down your computer and make it vulnerable to threats.

You simply can't get a virus by visiting a website, a virus enters a computer by some sort of means of downloading. Some people download music or movies and inside of the file hides a virus that is now on your hard drive that can activate once opened. It can reach a computer via many sources but video codes, activeX control install, java scripts are the main culprits. Don't install anything that you do not know then you would be free of viruses. period.
