Can the PointOfSale equipment at supermarkets be harmful to your health?

due to the laser that scans the bar codes. Are they harmful if you're by them all day long...like for a cashier?

radiation-wise...can they cause cancer?

No, they are very low power and moving constantly. Not as bright as a laser pointer. Only if you stopped one and stared into it for a while would there be a risk to vision. No other risks.
