Or should he/she change the Constitution to make a Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Mormon, Scientology, Hindi, Buddhist country?
JFK was one of the most popular presidents and he did not let his Catholic religion influence his decisions. I am afraid that some of the candidates would allow their religious beliefs affect their decision making.

What Christian values have we lost? Please be more specific. We do have more freedom today. Does that worry you?

I agree with you. Unfortunately, not many people are willing to put aside their differences long enough to read the first amendment. Religion shouldn't be an issue in America.

Why would he affirm something that doesn't exist? You will not find separation of church and state mentioned anywhere in the constitution or the Amendments. What you WILL find is in the 1st amendment saying, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...." and no, that doesn't say separation of church and state. What it does say is the Government cannot establish a state religion or stop you from practicing what you believe. Separation is a myth meant to divide our nation and it seems to be working well. If it weren't, religion wouldn't even be brought up.

I think that most of them have done so. I have a problem with electing a Baptist Minister, though. Can this person really separate his faith from the Presidency, I wonder. I have no quarrel with Baptists, just that being a Minister & a member of a religion are different things. I wouldn't want to see a Priest, a Rabbi, a Buddhist(?) Monk or the leader of any other religious order as my President.

Church and state are already separated by law the Constitution. However the constitution does not require the removal from all things in public domain. This country was founded on Christian values and we have allowed the erosion of those values in the past 40 years. We now condemn any thing Christian and defend those who do. We no longer have prayer in school and debate whether we should allow under God in the pledge of allegiance, and have shootings and killings on a almost routine basis when God was in the schools guns were not. As for JFK and all our founding fathers they all looked to God for guidance during difficult times and we should be afraid of those who do not look to God for guidance.

The Church and State must be separate. The constitution must not be changed to favor a certain religion because it will be in conflict with the government.

I think you miss quite a bit.
Do I think that I should be made to go to church by Presidential decree? 100% no, and I would pick up a gun and fight that.
Should a President allow his faith guide his decisions? Sure. Otherwise Lincoln would have been wrong in signing the Emmancipation Proclaimation as it was CLEARLY against the US Constitution and existing laws.
Are you for or against slavery?

the belief of 'separation of Church and state' isn't in the form, and actually, the ideally suited court docket ruled that "it extremely is a CHRISTIAN u . s .," so no, the subsequent President sould no longer verify such an unconstitutional thought. He would desire to repudiate the belief of the separation of Church and state. You concern the thought that good morals would tell a guy's determination making? it extremely is an particularly strange outlook certainly! The very be conscious "Tyranny" in its Greek root words ability "to manage without faith."

Our country is at war now and we need a true leader to guide us through the perilous times ahead. Mitt Romney is exactly the kind of person we need to run this country. Before any of us were born, we all lived together in Heaven with Heavenly Father. Some of us rebelled and started a war with those who were faithful . This event was called "The War in Heaven". Eventually the bad guys lost and became demons . the good guys won and were born with white skin here on Earth. Those who did not fight very hard or were indifferent were born on Earth with dark skin. The bravest of the brave leaders of the Lords Army were born here on Earth with White skin to good Mormon families.
During the war, Romney must have been one of the top Commanding Generals. Just look at his awe inspiring persona and strong Mormon family. Amerika needs General Romney to help us win the war on terror and bring Salvation to the world. Vote Romney in '08.

We can only hope that the next president will be influenced by religion, as George Washington, and many other presidents were. "Separation of Church and state" is a misused and misunderstood concept, that does NOT mean what you think it means. A long process of thinking about it, together with historical reminders, is necessary to have a working knowledge of the concept. It is not a yes or no.

let's get real...any candidate who can look me in the eye and tell me that his/her religious/spiritual feelings will play NO part in their decision making is too accomplished a liar for me to trust, or are so shallow in their beliefs that they have no spine...if they're willing to work hard, follow the constitution, and not blunder us into a war, i'll breathe a sigh of relief
