hmm these are the most random answers ever! i guess it has to do with where youre from. i live in southern california and blaze means to smoke weed. i know a couple of you said that came to mind. my sister wants to name her boy blaze but neither her nor her husband smoke weed. they did socially in their younger years but thats about it. i'm outraged that she would consider naming him that because thats basically setting him up for failure. weed is very widely accepted here and its something that im completely against. i can just see it in my head, my nephew being in jr high or high school and some hoodrat offers him weed just because his name is blaze! theres nothing i can do to convince her and i thought maybe showing her that enough people agree would change her mind...

and yes i know its her son and she can name him whatever she wants and i'm making a big deal over a name but this is something that i feel strongly about.

well my little brother is Blaise but its the english form of Blas so thats ok but i think of fire and i think of demon child lol if she really likes Blaze she should use it as a middle name

An out-of-control house- or forrest-fire, immediately followed by an image of a roided-out American Gladiator (a la the Blaze, Lazer, Blazer scene from Dodgeball LOL). ;)
But that's mostly due to the trendy "word" spelling. I wouldn't have that immediate reaction if seeing classic Blaise, to be fair.

I would think that the kid was an unusual kid, getting into trouble a lot and not coming from a very good family. I would think his parents were a little unusual and would feel kind of bad for him because I think it's kind of a dumb name, no offense.

When I hear that name it reminds me of a LosVegas stripper in a documentary years ago. I think her name was " Blaze Star" and she was the oldest dancer in the business. Wouldn't strap my kid with a name like Blaze......sorry!

It makes me think of either getting high or a porn star/stripper name for a girl or a guy. I personally wouldn't use the name.
