yea tom and lex are very good actors, especially with what lines the writers give them. The last couple seasons have started to go downhill, not nearly as good as it used to be.

I love Smallville because of the acting. It's so different than other shows. The acting draws me in and has had me hooked for years. It's a TV show not a movie so compared to others shows they do a great job. Although I do have to admit Lana seems a little fake or unreal when she gets all starry eyed.

Everyone has the right to be critical so all I'll say is I disagree. I think Tom Welling and the ensemble cast are doing pretty well.
But the show is in its (?) seventh season. That puts it way above the average show already. It would not be unusual for the quality of the writing to drag it down a bit as the writers start digging for something new.

I don't think they seem fake..what basis do you have for comparison?! They are in the presence of a being from another planet for cryin out loud!! Is there a way to act naturally when witnessing the supernatural??

I think that Tom Welling and the guy who plays Lex Luthor are great. Everyone else is awful, especially Lana. I could do without Chloe, Jimmy, and Tara as well.
