When a driver bobtails, he doesn't have a trailer on his semi truck. That happens when for some reason, the trailor can't be unloaded, or the driver drops off a trailer at a business and "bobtails" back to the terminal to pick up another load.,

when i drive my big truck and i'm bobtailing, it mans i'm driving without a trailer hooked to it, and i'm driving to a freight yard and picking up a loaded trailer to haul

you have to be able to change your drawers while driving change gears without the clutch and this is the part that most SWIFT drivers have trouble with......backing up

a bobtail is just a short commercial truck, anything can be a bobtail , google bobtail trucks and you'll see what I mean. adios.
