The tree, the garland, all the pretty presents, ... the debt, the driving, the shopping, the stress, the dishes, ... have you ever skipped the tree and presents? When & why? Did it depress you, or change your ideas of Christmas and how?

You don't need a tree or presents or garland to have a great Christmas, even when you are living by yourself. There are wonderful Church services all evenings and it is the most amazing feeling to go to Church on Christmas Eve, even when you have never gone to Church before. I especially liked the Services in Germany, when the Church Doors were wide open and the people were standing even in front of the Church, because it was so packed at 12:00am and it was freezing cold.
You can't skip Christmas, you have a choice to participate.

I feel like skipping this Christmas, i can't even get in the mood for it. I have not bought anything for anyone at all yet. I know i am feeling this way because my mom is still recovering from having an aneurysm removed from her brain. She needs constant supervision cause she cannot walk on her own due to balance problems.

I did put up my tree but my cat tore it up. I was gone last weekend to stay with my mom and when i came back my cat was laying in the middle of the tree -It broke the tree down and there was no way i could even fix it so i threw it away.

I just can't celebrate christmas this year because my mom is sick.

I skipped it 7 years ago, but not by choice. I had emergency surgery that saved my life on Christmas Eve. It took me a week to get out of the hospital, so I missed it all. I was too sick before that to decorate or anything. I slept through Christmas Day on morphine! Opened the gifts my family had already bought me on New Years Eve. It was the best New Years I've ever had, and I still save a couple of gifts for that now.

No, as a Christian Christmas is near and dear to my Heart. Celebrating the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is always great time of the year. Seeing the kids at church put on there Christmas play is a must see, they share with us the true meaning of Christmas, the Love and jOy that comes out this time of year. Merry Christmas and May God Bless You!!

Never! How shameful that would be of me!

EDIT: Well I can understand someone having to miss it due to certain important reasons. But I haven't had any so I haven't missed a year.
