To subtract time do it this way: It is similar to doing with numbers. split an hour into what ever minutes and seconds necessary to do the subtraction. (You may need to re-combine terms afterward)

8h 12min convert to 7h (59 +12min) 60sec

= 7h 71min 60sec
- 7h 19min 42sec
= 0h 52min 18sec
you can do a similar process for adding times.
