I was looking for dvds of an old tv show that my husband used to watch as a Christmas gift. I found the site dvdavenue.tv which seemed to have it for a good price. I purchased the set and got a confirmation page with an order number saying I'd get an e-mail with my order status in 48 hours. I never received an e-mail or the dvds and it's been 11 days and my credit card was charged immediately. The customer service number says their available 10am to 2am EST yet it goes to a voicemail. I'm worried it's not legitimate and was wondering if anyone else has heard of them.

Should've known something about this site would turn up on Y! Answers (as much spamming as that site does around here)...stick with the legit online sellers (Amazon,et.al.) as those sites have secure ordering (bootleg sites are not secure in spite of mentions of SSL secure ordering). There is also the tape-trading circuit if you want some rare material not avaliable commercially.

DVD Avenue operates at least a half dozen sites with the same suspicious ordering system and suspect-quality DVD-Rs (burned in some rented apartment) offered on each site.

Google "dvdavenue.tv" and read the number of complaints about that site that turn up. One of the complaint sites suggests that you contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's anti-fraud squad (that site is run out of Ontario) at once.

Dvdavenue.tv is scam website. Their DVDs are pirated copies recorded on dvd-r discs from the actual aired television shows. Many of the episodes contain commercials. The quality is very bad if the disc even plays at all.

Others have also have problems with this site, which you can read more about at:
