Why is marijunia illegal besides saying it is a drug? Do you think it should be legalized?

Yes. In fact, I think that all drugs should be legalised, but taxed and controlled according. Once this happens, the quality of substances will improve, the cost will fall and the crime element will be forced out, meaning fatalities from substance abuse will fall and people will stop comitting acts of crime to support their habits.
However, this won't happen, due to the nature of our modern governments. It is very hard to tax this kind of thing, and there is too big of a black market to be able to control substances completely.
The initial reason why marijuana was made illegal, but tobacco and alcohol remained legal was because tobacco and alcohol were the drugs choice for white people. Cannabis was the choice of drug for the black man, so it became outlawed by the white man for blacks to use their drug. Same reason why opium became outlawed was because opium was the prefered drug for asians, so the white man outlawed that too.
Nowadays though, lots of ideas about drugs have been established, yet smoking and drinking kills tens of thousands of people a year (and ruins many more lives) but remains legal because a stable taxing system has been put in place and vast amounts of money can be made from them. Its called having a hypocritical judicial system towards narcotics.
Cannabis can be used for medicinal purposes but this would cause pharmaceutical companies to lose money. The hemp plant can be to make paper and textile fabrics but this would cause forest stripping and cotton bailing to stop, and more companies would lose money.
At the end of the day, the main reason nowadays why marijuana is illegal is because so many people (including governments) would lose a lot of money.

It was made illegal to protect profits of corporations, mainly the big oil.

Yeah it should be legalized. It's a lot less harmful than alcohol and cigarettes.

People believed the lies, and the hatred of it spread, and continues to.
It grew into a multi-million dollar government boondoggle.

There isn't a single case in any of the world's medical literature indicating death caused by marijuana itself, it simply isn't toxic enough, it cannot kill. Tobacco kills 435,000 annually, poor diet and lethargy kills 365,000 through heart disease, obesity, etc. Alcohol kills 85,000. Over the counter medication kills 7,600. Illicit drugs, the heavy stuff like crack and heroin kill 17,000 through traffic collisions, HIV, hepatitis, overdose, etc. Almost twice as many die from prescription medication each year.
Absolutely it should be made legal.

Marijuana is illegal because the government is to stupid to regulate and tax it. Yes it should be legal. It does a lot less damage then cigarettes and alcohol.

I say every drug should be legalized, and be taxed like crazy.
All the dumb people who wanna do drugs ALOT will be dead and national debt will be gone in under a year.
That's just my opinion on it though...

I don't smoke it, but I tried it in high school. It's not any more dangerous than alcohol, so I don't think it's dangerous and I think there would much more room in prisons for child molesters and other monsters if the pot smokers were all released.

yes and no, it has medical advantages, but if they decide to legalize weed in America....all i can say is Our country will be full of dumbfuks/brain dead within certain amount of time!!
