I grew up with parents that did not spoil anyone. I have only been a Christian for a solid 2 ½ years. I am only this far in my walk with Christ because my parents were never church going people. Never did they outwardly show devotion to the one true God. Thus my life was following their footsteps. Working only to get by. Striving for success by how much money I would get paid. My grandmother invited me to a youth Christmas party one year. After that a girl by the name of Mary Melissa Yohn was my motivation to keep going. She kept talking about her relationship with God. I didn’t understand. I didn’t have this relationship. This girl that I like so much motivated me to learn more about what she had. I continued to go to church. My parents thought it was a good idea for me to keep going, for reasons unknown to me. Eventually I went on a mission trip to Mexico where we built houses for the needy. In that environment I for the first time witnessed God’s true love. The next week, on my birthday, I got baptized and accepted Christ into my heart. About a year ago God broke down everything in my life. He did this so that he could reveal his true vision for my life. I was to become a youth minister. To help those who were like me. After 6 months of my parents mocking me and telling me they wouldn’t pay for me to go to college, I finally ended up at southern union. They agreed to pay for that under the pretence that I was going to get a degree in another field. My intention was to get a degree and then become a youth minister during my post grad work. I have battled with my family over this issue for too long. I truly have no fight left in me. I work all the time, I spend little time at church, and in my heart I don’t feel like I am making a difference.

“He begins to die, that quits his desires.” --George Herbert

In my life I see no fruit from my labor. I feel like all that is happening is, day after day, I lead a life that is not holy. My parents still don’t trust me or even aknowledge what I want, I have very little free time, and most of all I feel like I am dying. I feel as if my dreams and God’s vision for my life are too far away. That the obstacle is too great to overcome. I feel dead in my heart. That I am wasting breath.

Welcome to ministry.
You say you're working all the time, but spending little time in church. This points out the beginning of the problem.
It is so easy to get off track. Re-align the priority in your life...you know it's God! You do need the fellowship of the family of God.
One thing about fruit, the law of sowing and reaping is simple...no farmer puts a seed in the ground then goes out the next day to harvest the crop. There is the sowing, time must pass while you keep watering, and eventually the harvest comes. It takes time, not just labor.
Always check to see that what your dreams are is the same thing as what God wants.
Your parents' reaction is their reaction. You live for God, not for them.
Prayer groups are effective because God answers prayer. Join one.

I can't say that I am a religeous man. But I can say, keep your dream. Don't EVER let anyone tell you that you can't do something. Go to your church to see if they will help you with your education. If you help one other person in your life, you have made a difference. Don't become discouraged. You do have fight left in you. I know you do. Here are some words of encouragement for you:
It's not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what's required.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
The price of greatness is responsibility.
We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire...Give us the tools and we will finish the job.

Sir Winston Churchill

If you need someone to talk to, you can email me. I don't know how much help I can be, but I believe you were sent here to be great. Don't let anyone take away your greatness!

The only thing I can tell you is, that at the end of your life, your parents aren't there, those who mock you aren't there, it's just you and God. Please don't give up the walk with Christ. Something I've learned over my many years, I'm going to share with you, you can only do something for yourself, you can't do it for your parents or those who claim to want to help you. If they're trying to get you to drop your dreams, then they truly do not have your best interest at heart. There are other ways to get to college, financial aid is available to anyone who needs it. Don't leave your dreams behind, because of financial problems. God will provide the answer you're looking for. I'll pray for you, and continue your walk with Christ. There is no relationship as fulfilling and wonderful as that.

Well, just remember St. Paul; God struck him blind. I assume that you still have your eyesight. So, things aren't so very bad after all. Now come on--no one EVER said being a Christian (or Muslim or Jew or anything else) would be easy. There are crosses to bear in ANY religion. And just remember that Jesus didn't have it easy in any part of his ministry. Being 'called' doesn't guarantee having an easy life. Keep your eye on the prize. YOu'll get there.

You spelled Christian wrong which grabbed my attention...
If you feel that God is directing you then don't resist and tell him what you are feeling. Pray every second of the day if you must but don't ever give up on something that you feel that strongly about.-♥-

Building houses for the needy is something to be admired and, if your faith prompts you to do that, then it sounds like a great path to go down.
