We're pregnant with 2 little girls. We both love the name Alana but we can't seem to pick a middle name!
We'd like to honor our mothers with the girls' middle names. My mother is Brenda Jo. And his mother's is Kathleen.
We've thought about using Ava Kathleen and Alana_____? Any suggestions? Any other names that could go nicely with Alana?
Thank you !

Is it dumb to do matching first letters of the first names with twins? Or names that sound alike?
I like Alana Jo, but my husband is not completely convinced :) Keep 'em coming!
Thanks for all your help, everyone!

I'd likely look for another Celtic choice -- along the same lines as Alana and middle name Kathleen ;) -- that would serve to compliment, rather than compete with, Alana. Ava and Alana, to use your example, are both VERY similar, yet stylistically miles apart (Ava being Germanic). Basically making it clear that one of the girls' names was chosen because you truly loved it, and the other simply a default choice that happened to "match." Never a good idea.
Some that seem fitting as a sister to Alana might include:
Catrina
Fiona
Lilias
Maura
Ciara
Dara
Devin
Devanie
Mairenn
Nola
Nora
Talulla
Tegan
Carys
Gwyneth
Gwendolen
Rhiannon
Seren
Megan
All names with Celtic ties that seem fitting with your style. And while some are a bit less commonly-used, none are all that unfamiliar in style or sound.
As to a middle name honoring Brenda Jo, if these exact names don't appeal, you might also consider related or obviously similar Brenna, Brennan, Branwen, Bronwen, Bryn or Josephine. ;)
I'll include links to two useful sites below, by the way. Hope that helps!

I like Alana Jo, too. It's cute
I love the name Hanna Kathleen to go with Alana Jo. It's a unique way to spell Hanna instead of the usuall Hannah. It's actually German, and it means 'gift from God.'
