Now that the technology is available, why not address the problem of having teachers isolated in crowded classrooms with the always present unruly students disrupting the learning environment- see how the casino monitors catch all kinds of mischief, & put those skills to work in today's schools? Have enforcers at the ready should actual trouble break out?

Education budgets are steep enough now without adding something so that teachers can identify unruly students. What would be better is enforcing directives that unruly students are suspended from class and will not be readmitted until a parent or guardian accompanies them after they have served their out time.

I think it sounds great. I always teach with my door open. A veteran teacher told me decades ago that she pretends a parent and an administrator are sitting out there listening to her teach. She also tells the students that someone could be out there listening to what they say, how loud they are, etc.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who think privacy rights outrank safety and solid learning in school. A teacher was filming students on a stage when she saw an audience member (student) carving a seat with a knife. She turned the camera on him and had evidence of weapon possession and destruction of property. The parents argued that she didn't have the right to film him because she hadn't asked their permission. Parents like that would fight a camera in the classroom.

ugh, my school has those pesky cameras! the way they do it though is that the teacher gets to choose if they want one or not in their classroom, but they are manditory in the halls. i guess its cuz we have an outdoors/open school...
the good thing about the cameras is that the school can catch bad kids doing things, but the bad part is that everyone has the feeling that they are being evaluated or watched...thats why some of the teachers choose no to have one; too much pressure

paying for technology upkeep as well as the salary of those responsible for watching the feeds would lessen the amount available for the classroom. Your idea would take most likely increase class size.

bad idea.

Well, the have cameras in all the hallways disguised as fire detectors, and they have cameras on most of the buses. I'm sure they are in the classrooms too. If not they should be.
