well, it should stay hobos.
An "i" is only added to words that descend directly from a latin word that ended in "us"
For example: alumnus, alumni.
thats why cactus becomes cacti.

so if the singular form of hobo was really "hobus" then we could say the plural was "hobi" ; which is really funny.
