I haven't heard a Democrat call for higher corporate taxes. They've called for higher taxes on the top 2% of wage earners.
I think if they do raise corporate taxes and companies move off shore, we should charge them a 25% import tarriff.

there's a lot of things messed up in my opinion. Illegal workers take jobs and will work for less, that takes jobs. I'm an inspector of public projects and can not ask if a person is legal, I can only look at the paperwork supplied by the company working for us...but there are many illegals (if you can't speak any English the chance you are illegal is very great)..They make about $20/hr (by the paperwork anyway). But i really don't know. From the looks of it, they are taking $40,000/year jobs. But the point is, illegals are hurting the legal blue collar worker. Dem's and Repub's need to come together on these issues (I'm a Dem, but the problems need to be done as Americans, not Dem's and Repub's)
point 2,
taxes to corporations are passed to the consumer...it's all part of the over head...if it is too expensive to make something, they won't make it and take their money elsewhere...capital gains taxes are the only way to tax someone individually, but then the company can give a CEO stock options and such or just pay him $20 million a year.
WE need to settle the illegal worker situation and get rid of welfare to the rich. There is a farm bill in Congress right now that will reduce the amount of earnings to be eligible for subsidies from $1 million to $750,000 gross earnings...how can a person or small corporation (which is usually father, son and wife) be eligible for government handouts if they gross a million dollars a year. THE GOOD THING ABOUT CORPORATIONS PASSING THE COSTS OF TAXES TO THE CONSUMERS IS THAT IT IS A TAX THAT IS ACTUALLY PAID FOR BY THE ONES SPENDING MONEY...IF YOU DON'T SPEND MONEY, YOU PAY LESS IN INDIRECT TAXES.
There are a lot of things the government could do to improve things, but there are a lot of people with their hands out wanting some tax moneys

Oh, don't look at it like they are raising taxes for corporation. What they are actually doing is not letting corporation get tax cuts anymore, which corporations never should have been given tax cuts in the first place. Frankly, if corporation want to jack up prices on their merchandise to off set having to pay taxes like everyone else, then so be it. What can be done is they can pass a bill to give tax cuts to small businesses. This in effect would bring back American businesses being more successful, which would decrease prices due to increased competition.
Seeing as to how we are so economically dependent on China for imports, bringing back American businesses is the only way to fix the problem to become more economically independent.

The "tax and spend" philosophy that was lauded by nearly all Democratic candidates in this last debate is frightening.
Then again, I didn't get a single decent tax cut with Bush in power, in fact I pay more taxes now than I did when he was elected, *and* I see our debt spiralling out of control.
The real problem is the graft and corruption of both parties. Both of them are grabbing tax money left, right and center for pork and private exploitation.
We need better laws to make earmarks illegal, we need to diminish the "perks" politicians receive from lobbies and pork, and we need to trim our spending. Once we do all that, then I can swallow the occasional tax hike on our most affluent businesses.
Until that happens, all were doing is pointing the blame on faceless corporations, instead of wasteful government where it belongs.

When a Corporation like Exxon Mobile makes 39.5 BILLION in PROFITS, I think they can afford to pay a little more in taxes without passing the cost on to the consumer. But like I said in my other post, let's close all corporate tax loop holes, impose an import tax on goods and services sold in the US, if a company sends jobs overseas and lower the Corporate tax rate to 30% with a maximum low of 25% if they adhere to all environmental regulations and reduce pollution output significantly.

Why does big oil need tax breaks and money for R&D????? They are posting record profits while receiving tax dollars to prospect for new sources of oil and to develop new energy systems....absolutely ludicrous...Let them make their profits, that is fine. They don't need any special breaks. Pres. Bush has said he will veto any legislation that threatens the tax cuts he gave to big oil as part of his transportation bill a few years ago. Smells like corruption.

Liberals don't understand that taxes are just another cost of doing business that is passed on to the consumer. Businesses go to the location where the total cost of their product is the least. They hope that there are enough people earn the required salary to purchase their product.

If your for it,then watch how many more jobs go overseas,or out of the country. The democrats would never off set any taxes. They think the money we make is theirs first, plain and simple.Government is King,Ruler of all,as for what they think is best for us....you need to research farther than feelings of sticking it to the Corporations, after all they not only produce goods, but they create jobs, etc etc

Well corporations are formed to make money, for no other reason. If you make it too hard for them to do that they will leave. The Dems are hoping you won't notice.
