Since I was born in 1943 I am considered a 'war baby', being
born during WWII. I am interested in western American
history the most. Tho I also like the Antebellum period during
the Civil War between the states as well.
At one time, my husband and I collected many things that
were found in Arizona in & around old silver mines, that we'd only seen in museums before. But we no longer have those today. But we do have some Indian made trappings we bought through a southwestern shop many years ago (war club, bow and arrows and a staff/lance. We have a western look to our living room and have had for 30 years.
I used to have to watch anything my dad did when there
was only one TV growing up. So I have had my share of
old newsreels about WWII, that were in black and white
film. One of his favorite programs was, Victory at Sea.
Which showed battles at sea and also soldiers being
unloaded from other ships on land near battle fronts. I do
love some of the old movies that were filmed during the
war years tho and glamorized the period. And I loved
the music of the big band sounds, that my parents danced
to. And still do today. I wish it were brought back again so
that slow dancing would be popular once more. And maybe
the Jitterbug too. I can just see kids today trying to flip their
partners over their backs like they did back then. I've seen
alot of old movies showing what that was all about, since I
never saw my parents do that. Maybe they never could LOL.

I can't tell you how much I love history. It is so real to me that I am convinced that time travel is possible. When I get into one of my "jags", I might as well be there. Any history fascinates me, but I have spent most of my many years of study on the European Late Antiquity and Middle Ages, and Victorian England. I have one creepy pursuit I have kept up since 1965, when I read my first Jack the Ripper book. I've been a Ripperologist ever since! I'm the only person I know who had a Jack the Ripper guest bathroom. My guests would spend ages in there.

I am a HUGE history buff. In fact I decided to go Uni and get a degree in history. My second major is asian studies so asian history is what I m doing next year as well as Native American History.
When I was younger I wanted to be an Egyptologist or a paleoanthropolgist but sadly my life did not take the turns and twists I would have wanted.
Never mind a history/asian studies degree is great too!!!

One of my degrees is in American History. Although I obviously had to read lots of US history, I also studied other areas, History of the Middle East, History of Africa, Ancient and Medieval History, several different English historical periods and more. It's all fascinating. Perhaps because my parents were from that era but my favorite period is WWII.
The funny thing is that no matter how much you study the period, there is always more info being uncovered.

I love history. I grew up on WW2 movies so naturally developed an interest. I am also interested in ancient history, Biblical history and recently, Chinese history. I am not a master of any of them, but I enjoy reading about all of it. I find archeology fascinating. There are some great web sites I visit frequently.

I'm quickly becomming one. Not for what the government says but from what diaries and letters say. I have a box of all my dads letters from WW2. I have yet to read them. Dad always said to keep your nose in your own business and I have never opened a letter addressed to anyone else but me. My cousin is a big WW2 fan and he's been trying to convince me to read them. I have his uniforms and all.....still exactly like he packed them away. But I literally haven't read a word. He wasn't famous or important and I don't know anything more................
