Actually the fastest stock street production bike is the MV Agusta f4 1000. If you want to consider the 4 majors it would be the Gxsr 1000. The MV you won't see many of those since it's priced around 23,000 dollars. However it is the fastest 1000cc bike.

All 4 1000cc Jap bikes are about the same, you'll have to check a top speed review to find the exact details. Unless you are a world class rider you'll never know the difference anyway since they all will out run anything else just about. I'm sure there are a couple European 1000 bikes that would come close too.

Kawasaki's "Ninja 1000" or the Z1000 are both more upright than the full-on ZX-10R race bikes. The FZ1 you mentioned is also a good option. Avoid anything that starts with "CBR, GSX-R, YZF, or ZX." Typically the Japanese manufacturers develop their liter race bikes to compete in World Superbike, and then a year or so later, they come out with a 'sport' model that has the same engine block, but slightly different cams (for more torque, with slightly lower overall power). The result is something like the "ninja 1000" that looks like a superbike, but is actually pretty comfortable by comparison. Good on you for looking at something made for street riding instead of just insisting on the most powerful liter bike money can buy.

In what form?

A Gixer 1000 is amazing on a race track, however a BMW GS 1000 RS is better on a sand / desert track.

Both are " Sports " bikes really.

Also, this type of question is better asked under the NON Racing section which can be found under the Transport section.

Many thanks.

no offense but harley davidsons are the slowest, any 600cc inline 4-cylinder can blow away most 1500cc v-twins, but id say the fastest 1000cc sportbike is probably the suzuki gsxr 1000

Hey 1212

I'm with Neil on this one - The MV is the dog's bollocks as we say in the UK. A mate has one and it's silly fast!
