I'm not on birthcontrol now, but I use to and I still get confused when it says the sunday after your period to take it. I asked my doctor about it and she said to just take it on any sunday. When I get my next pack again should I wait until my next period is over and take it the sunday after? Another question if i stop my period on a sunday can i still take the pill that day? This is all just too confusing. Anyone that knows alot about birthcontrol please help.

They tell you to take it the first Sunday after your period as a formality so, it's easier to remember.
You can take your first pill on any Sunday. The important thing is that it is a Sunday. The week starts on Sunday when you take the pill, as opposed to Monday ( the regular first day of the week)
You don't have to wait until you next period to take your first pill.
You can start them the first Sunday after you receive them from the doctor.
This may change your schedule a little but, the pill has a tendency to do that anyway and you won't harm yourself by doing so.
So for instance, if you get them tomorrow, you can take the first one on the 16th of December.
Take Care,

It's supposed to be like this: Say you stop your period on Thursday. You should start your pack that sunday. Since it's been less than a week, you'll be fine. If you start a pack anytime during your cycle, it screws with your hormones. You have a fluctuation of hormones during your cycle even before you get your period, which allows for ovulation, etc. When you start your pack after you finish your period, you control all those fluctuations. IF you start in the middle of your cycle, you may have already ovulated, and it messes up your body. You should always wait until just after you finished your period. If you haven't quite finished your period on sunday, but it's mostly over, you can start a new pack without worry, you don't have to wait until the next sunday if you don't want to.

You take it when your doctor tells you to start taking it.

Mine told me to start taking it on a Sunday so it would be easier for me to remember when I need to refill and so I don't have to deal with the stupid weekday stickers.
