I think it shows both lack of imagination AND brain power. Women are usually "graded" on their looks, and most people think that is the worst way to get back at a female. I am with you on the fact it would bother me more for someone to call me stupid than ugly. After all, so what if I am not as attractive as most.... no one can take my Masters away from me! I earned that bad boy myself! :)

I agree completely with your point of view.
My husband calls me fat and ugly all the time if he's mad at me and I know I'm alot smarter than him so I don't let it bother me. That's all he's got. Our society is so looks orienated that men think it's the best thing to put average women down with. I'de rather be smart and plump, which now is anything over a size 2-4, than beautiful and an idiot.

Because it would hurt finding out that your partner is thast dumb and childish he's calling you an unimaginative hurtful name. Yes you are right, it does show lack of brain power on the person who is calling the name.

people call women "fat" or "ugly" because (many, not all) women are very concerned about appearance. calling them things that do not coincide with society's ideals of how a woman should look is hurtful because every woman wants to be desirable. i am not saying that all women place an emphasis on their looks or that intelligence or confidence isnt attractive, but this is just what society (especially the entertainment business) has based attrctiveness on--how beautiful or thin you are....its sad.

Because in today's society looks are valued a lot more than brains, no matter how wrong that is. Everyone's been sucked into this so much that we believe it, and its sad so many people place such importance on looks

because much of being a woman is the beauty well, that's what you're told since you can remember from family member to boyfriends and you start defining yourself like that. also they know that is where they can hurt you the most. usually they can't call you stupid b/c you are most probably smarter than them and they know it!!

The same reason that many women respond to trolls, critics of feminism, or men they just dislike, with derisive remarks about their genitalia. It is meant to not only hurtful, but to diminish their worth as a human being by focusing solely on their physical attributes. And yes, it is unimaginative and stupid.

I think those are the 2 things women fear most (besides murder and stuff). Guys can be fat and no one will really do much. Girls on the other hand can be made fun of and/or looked at weird. As for ugly, everyone fears that. Its just women care about their appearance more.
