Well, the report mentioned McGwire 48 times and the most damaging thing it said was that he wisely listened to his attorney and didn't talk to Congress. But as one of the remarks near the conclusion says, "Under basic principles of labor and employment law, an employer must apply the policies in place at the time of the conduct in question in determining what, if any, discipline is appropriate" (p. 356). When talking about McGwire it says, "After the Associated Press reported in August 1998 that Mark McGwire was using
androstenedione, a steroid precursor that was legal at the time, . . ." (p. 64).
So, McGwire is off the hook.

McGwire will never see the hall of fame. Even if he never did use steroids, which he did, he was not a good enough player. all he had going for him was the single season homerun record which didnt last long. Sosa will also never get in with hes steroids links, corked bat, and he doesnt have the stats to get in

The Mitchell Report isn't exactly a "Ticket to the Hall of Fame, if you are not in it" but It raises their chances. Yes, Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire were suprisingly not mentioned in the Mitchell Report, and they will make the hall of fame. Not because they weren't mentioned, but because they both hit over .280, 550 Homeruns, 1,200 Runs batted in.

nope not any time soon. there is plenty of evidence outside of mitchells report they did roids and it's up to the voters to protect the game. maybe some day, but not anytime soon for either. i would put bonds in before either of those guys because his skill set was not directly related to PED's.
