Hey, I was just wondering about what makes an artist an artist? Its just that i like to do art but i dont know if im talented enough to get anywhere with it, so just wondering how good do you have to be to be able to get to university or something?

Ps. To any other artists about my age (im 16), if its possible can you show some of your art? That would be helpful..

It's already post modern, what ever you want to call art is art.

Artist is an artist as long as he think that his works are art.

You really don't have to go to a university to be one, all you need is passion and desire.

Good luck!

An artist is someone who makes art.

Although, some people try to make up deeper definitions that require an artist to be super-seriously deep into their art and be all artsy and emotional about it.

Other people define an artist with the requirement that they have to not only make art but be VERY good at it.

And other people have a requirement in their definition of "artist" that the person actually does their art professionally- by selling it and/or displaying it in galleries, or creating the art for clients that specifically commission it.

An artist is someone who can create something in their mind and then transfer those thoughts through a medium to convey the idea.

A professional artist is one who can turn this into a profit or become recognized for their contributions in others eyes.

Hey, I'm 15 years old, and I do mostly impressionism paintings. I also paint (realism) murals inside buildings with acrylics. An artist is just anybody who creates things. Different people like different kinds of art.

What makes them an artist is the NEED to be creative and to do things with their hands. You can't get a pen out of their hands when they're on a roll, or away from the graphics programs, or whatever. There's a definate thing inside that makes them do what they do.
