i had a ultra sound done on my neck because i had a lump my doctor called with the results and wants me to go see a surgen. she did not say anything about what it was just to make a appointment. Im guessing this is nothing "SERIOUS" if she said i can wait 5 days to meet with the surgen. Why would I need to see a surgen????? Very scared!! Do you think she knows whats on my neck and is not telling me?

When your primary care doctor evaluated your lump in your neck, she wanted to see what it was through an ultrasound. Because she does not remove lumps she refers to a surgeon who can better answer what the lump is and to tell whether it needs to be removed or not. You may need more tests to evaluate. Just because you get sent to a surgeon doesn't necessarily mean you'll have surgery because ultimately it is your choice whether to have the lump removed or not. Definitely ask your primary doctor what she thinks it is and if she can't answer that, then make an appointment with the surgeon and he/she will be able to further explain what the lump could be in your neck. Most times it's benign but go ask the surgeon specialist. Hope this helps!

Get back to the doctor and have her give you an explanation about the lump on your neck. Why is she advising you have surgery?
