When democrats were in the minority and blocking all the republican agenda, the press said that the republicans were not working with or compromising with democrats and that the republicans were trying to ram through a radical agenda.

Now that the democrats are in power, there is no mention of the democrats working with or compromising with the Republican minority or the democrat agenda being to radical.

No wonder the Congress has an approval rating lower than the average temperature in the North Pole.

What say you?

I say it depends on what blogs and media you read.

I distinctly remember any Democrat that wanted to prolong the discussion of the Patriot Act, or wanted to wait before voting for the war in Iraq to judge the quality of intelligence, being demonized, and even having their patriotism questioned.

Now I see biased papers like the New York Times take pot shots at Republicans who dare to debate or critisize some of the rubbish the Democrats are trying to pass in the house now that they have the majority.

It is hard to find bipartisan media these days, most just scream for one political party or the other. If you read the NY Times, expect a lot of Republican bashing, if you read the NY Post expect the opposite. If you read the blogosphere, well usually most of those opinion sites wear their political allegiances on their sleeve.

Truly, when was the last time you read anything even reasonably open-minded on Huffington's site or KOS?

I will say that the chicanery and cowardice of the current House of Congress and its leadership is shameful, and isn't getting nearly the attention it deserves, not even from Republican mouthpieces like Hannity and Rush.

Maybe that's because some Republicans have their face deep in the pork barrel as well?

That is interesting. I am a democrat, and while I view the media as being pretty fair for the most part (they pick on both democrats and republicans) - I'm siding with you on this point. I'm guessing that at this point in time, the democrats have had so little power that the news media is for the most part cutting them a little slack. But I seem to remember that happening too with the republican congress under Gingrich during the first couple of years.

There is mention that both sides cannot compromise with each other on the majority of significant bills, such as bills concerning social issues and social programs.
But every time they do compromise, and pass legislation, it seems the president is always willing to veto it. It is so sad. Nothing can get accomplished.

Uh...yeah...I seem to remember the cons trying to make the filibuster illegal and calling the democrats obstructionists every other breath. You cons have a short memory.
