New PCIe 2.0 and PCIe 1.1 BOTH USE x16 PCIe slot. The new PCIe cards (8800GT, HD3850/3870) that support PCIe 2.0 are backward compatible with PCIe 1.1.

Yeah im running an 8800 PCIe 2.0 card in my older PCIe 16x slot so it will work fine
