Or will it backfire like it did when the Clintons went after the big cigarette manufacturers. The corporations will only pass the higher taxes on to the consumer.

Democrats need to hold Corporate America responsible for their actions. Republicans always say their for self accountability and responsibility for the individual, but what about Corporations? Why do they turn a blind eye to them? Our government is supposed to protect us against those that would do us harm and that includes Corporations who pollute or over charge, etc. The government right now looks out for the smallest minority RICH, while ignoring the needs of the MAJORITY. Democrats are absolutely right to go after Corporate America and demand accountability and responsibility on their part.
Having said that, I'm a liberal Democrat, so this is going to sound crazy. US Corporations pay too much in taxes. It's true. They pay too much to be competitive in the World market. BUT here's the catch, they dodge paying a lot of taxes too. My solution is this: we lower the Corporate tax rate to 30%, but we close every tax loop hole available to corporations. If a Corporation sends jobs overseas, there will be an import tax on the product or service they wish to sell here in the US to offset the loss of jobs. AND a Corporation can have their tax rate cut even MORE to a maximum low of 25% if they adhere to all environmental regulations and decrease their pollution output significantly. Thoughts?

The corporations get their support from the Democrats. The Democrats regulate the industries to support the oligopolies and the corporations love it. If you want to really get at the corporations, support the Republicans, the corporation's greatest fear is competition.
The policies of the Democrats stifle competition, competition lowers consumer prices.

Yes, they are right in doing so. Corporate America consists of many facets, including Insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, large corporate hospitals, grocery conglomerates, large utility companies etc. Corporate America isn't just the automotive industry, munitions makers, they are many things that one doesn't think of when considering Corporate America yet, these are ones that affect our everyday lives & we don't even think of them. If done right by going after them, they won't be able to pass along the cost of higher taxes, they will pay their fair share in taxes, something they haven't done in decades!

Democrats aren't going after corporate America. But someone needs to speak up for the average American who's been forgotten by our government. Corporate America sends American jobs to third world countries and asks for tax breaks while doing It.

"Meet the new boss , same as the old boss ..."

- The Who

You mean after their campaign dollars? The big influence seekers , seem to think the Democrats are worth going after . They're giving more to Democrats than before . (Most are going both ways , so you know they are trying to buy influence ). The Democrats will go after those that don't give them $ , but not those that do ( just like the GOP) ( See Hillary
& Schumer's votes FOR that awful bankruptcy bill, for ex. )

The democratic party has long tried to use class warfare to win elections. Corporate America produces jobs and prosperiety and their stocks provide a nice retirement for Americans with 401k plans. All the democrats can produce is venom and hatred.

Cooperate America are the ones who control politics, politicians are their puppets, and any politician who opposes them, they will take it out on the citizens of America, why do you think that our politicians aren't trying that hard to control immigration, because they want the cheap labor with no taxes, and many of our so called leaders are either owners or primary stock holders of these corporations, its a never ending cycle, and that's another reason i believe that presidential assassination attempts were made.
The state of michigan is a prime example.

I have no idea why the Libs wish to kill the Golden Goose that enable all their entitlement programs.

Maybe they are all bureaucrats & they wish to keep their jobs long enough to receive a retirement better than those in the commercial world.

American Corporations are made by citizens, as allowed by law. Sure there are greedy ones, and responsible ones, successful and failed. Democraps just want more taxes to waste and more power to get drunk on. Corporations are what made the US great and they hate the US and want to change it into something it was never supposed to be and can't work.

Yes, Corporate America represents everything that's wrong with our country. Think about 20 years ago no one would work weekends or holidays except hospitals because the companies would actually close. Now there is no holiday that is sacred and people are working more weekends, all because the rich want to get richer.
