Hi, I live in Australia and have only heard small portions about this writers strike and was wondering, what are they striking about?

As i said I basically know nothing about it. Just that its resulted in re-runs of most of the shows on TV.

Thanks.

More money. TV shows are being sold on DVD's and the writers want a cut of that too.

There are scores of videos on youtube about this. Just go to youtube.com, type in 'writers guild strike' and see how much info. you get. "Why We Strike" is one of the better ones.

It's basically about getting a payment for online downloads, and to get an increase on DVD sales, which is now only 4 cents for a $20 DVD!

Movie and TV studio bosses are some of the greediest people on the planet.

Essentially, all the members of the WGA need fired and then the WGA needs dissolved. There are a ton of aspiring writers waiting to fill their shoes. Fire the writers. ALL of them!

Basically, the writers aren't being paid royalties for shows that the networks put online. The networks are making money off of this, but the people who wrote the shows aren't.
