I just say "Ok I am gonna go now"
It is kinda rude because it is a lie and why lie? Yet then again many people get too butt hurt over stupid things.
Please show me the law that says I "have" to like EVERYONE.

No, my dad has pretended that a customer has arrived at home to escape talking to my brother. My brother can go on like an old woman when on the phone, talking about all his ailments and sometimes his last bowel movement! He's only 31.

I think the word here is dishonest.
If you really don't want to talk with someone, why not simply say you can't talk right now (can't talk, won't talk), or that you have to hang up (you don't have to give a reason).
Many phones have caller ID. Why not screen your calls and simply don't answer the ones from people with whom you don't wish to talk?
Just because your phone rings doesn't mean you have to answer it. And just because someone calls you doesn't mean you have to talk to them if you don't want to.
But you shouldn't have to lie about it.

It's a preemptive strike when you are very uncomfortable telling someone the reason why you don't wish to speak with them. It's still a lie so it's more "deceptive" than rude. Chalk it up to being human.
