Most people are pretty skeptical about my martial arts training until they see it in action. What, are women supposed to be frail creatures who rely on men all the time?

Why don't you post a video on YouTube for us to see? That way we can be as impressed with your skills as you are. Frankly, I'd be more interested in hearing about your actual training than hearing you brag so much. (How many times have you posted this same question now?) I always thought that martial arts was as much about disciplining the mind as it is about disciplining the body. How and for how long have you trained?

Also, relying on another person---a life partner---is not just about relying on them for their physical strength. Even the strongest woman in the world can and should accept that she cannot be all things to herself. Sometimes you do need other people.

Edit to add: Is that you in the video? That film was artist, interesting, cute and kind of classy for its genre. But it's not really what I'd call an exhibition of your martial arts skills as applied to fighting. Impressive flip or whatever it's called. You've got talent as a film maker if the concept if this was yours.

I guess it always depends on what martial arts you take. I honestly don't believe Wu Shu is a martial art that can prove someone can kick butt. My friend is a Wu Shu instructor and he tells me all the time it's a show art. I am not saying you are weak or anything like that. I am taking Ju Jitsu at the moment and there is a very small (5'1" at the most) girl in our class that is just as good as many of the other students.

There are many stereotypes out there regarding women but I believe pioneers like Michelle Yeoh are helping to show the world that women aren't just frail creatures and that they can hold their own. Just my thoughts

Biologically, yes. Though from a more sociologically relevant point of view, women are generally untrained and less aggressive than men, thus less likely to 'kick butt'. Mostly due to testosterone, which gives men their aggression and muscle mass. On average, an adult human male body produces about eight to ten times more testosterone than an adult female body.

Or the run down, girls can kick butt, the just kick less butt than men on average, thus the conception that women can not kick butt. Personally I think you're sensationalizing your own exploits just to make a point.

90% of martial arts taught is useless rubbish. I won't deny for a moment that a lot of full-contact MMA is the real deal, but that's something else.
In wrestling (genuine olympic wrestling) women NEVER beat the guys. In boxing the men would KILL a women. Women tend to be decent kickers, but put that against a man who kicks equally good and she'll lose. Women beat inferior male fighters.
Patois those kids must have been surprised or too high to know better. Don't spread misleading stories. I have ample fighting experience and fighting one person is hard enough, unless he's a cissy.

no, it depends on the build of the girl. If she is athletic and toned then yes I think she can kick butt. But if she is a nomal girl then no. Even with martial arts you need to be physically fit. So basicly the physically fit women you see at gyms and stuff I believe can kick butt. But if you are an asian women. No man would ever think you cant kick butt. You ever see those martial arts movies where the women kick all the mens butts. Asian women have quick hands and feet.

I once answered a question about if women ever were in a fight in which they used martial arts and when I described a scary mugging by three guys high on paint once, some boys called me a pathological liar when I wrote of how I didn't even drop my nursing bag as I put all three guys in the hospital. The less likely that people are to believe in the competence of others, the less competent they feel themselves. Many men can be very emotionally fragile in ego.

I am always stunned by those few males who are so ignorant and unworldly as to not believe a woman can defend herself with proper training. I mean, how fast does it take for a female cop or an FBI agent to put a man on the ground? Most men are not truly that stupid. Perhaps they are mostly boys who play too many video games instead of date and interact with society in realistic ways. All women should take a variety of self-defense courses. I wish it was a part of public education. And, most women should get in much better physically fit condition. There would be a LOT less rape.

SP -- Women are less aggressive than males? That is so untrue. Ask anyone-- the most dangerous place in the world is between a mother and her child. Women become far more aggressive and violent when their child is in danger-- its built in.

On top of that, women fighters are trained differently than male fighters. Men, who yes, are usually physically stronger, are trained to be able to take more hits-- more of a blow by blow type of fight. Women, however, are trained to take less blows and make every hit count-- there as we are trained to attack you at the most vital points -- throat, eyes, knees, groin, etc. Women, when they fight, are far more vicious because for us, we must ensure that a physically stronger male does not get up again. Women are also more likely to up the level of violence, because, again, to protect herself, she has to make sure the male isn't able to get up again and do further damage to her.

So please, don't discount us because we may be physically weaker-- we have other aces up our sleeves.

The Mrs.--- Now THAT is a good martial arts clip. Loved it.

Your ability to "kick butt" makes you no more impressive than a musclebound man who claims he can do the same. Learn to use other tools in your repertoire to solve your issues. That is assuming you have other skills.
