I have a Kubota utility tractor and was confused with something in the owner's manual. One section says that driving on asphalt (street) with 4WD engaged would damage it. But in another section it says 2WD would damage it. So which is correct?

I've contacted Kubota but no answer.......

On hard surfaces use 2 WD. This is true for most 4WD cars as well. The answer about the locking of hubs is correct. This can put more stress on the differential and tranmission.
Used to have a Kubota and thought it was a very good tractor.

Some have a posilocker for even traction when pulling over things not for small tractors,A detroit locker of sorts Good for field plowing with ease, read further in manual to see about differential care,You see all tires don,t wear evenly,[Wear =smaller] Even tire pressure will affect this!OH! and one more thing!,,,? You will not hurt this tractor ,Unless you run it low on oil,You will hurt the tires![only] as tractors dont have to do nascar stuff!only creep along and serve purpose,G writes
