Stop leak is a band-aid. Take it to a radiator shop and have it fixed correctly. You risk ruining your engine if it overheats. And it can happen very quickly.

There are actually two little tricks you can do until you have time and money to fix it correctly.
#1. Loosen the radiator pressure cap just one click. This will not allow the cooling system to reach the puonds of pressure stamped on the cap.
#2. Purchace a 4 lb. Stant radiator pressure cap for your car at at auto parts store for the same reason as above.
Call as many auto parts stores as possible to get priced on a new radiator. Start with NAPA and Carquest. *autopartswarehouse.com has them for your car from $97.00 clear up to $250.00. There all either built in China or Mexico.

If it is a hose you might be looking at about $50.00 at the high end. Now here is something I want to tell you about that might just save you a bunch of money. goto you local automotive parts supply house and ask for a bottle of "BARS LEAK". use the "Bars Leak" as the directions say. This product will seal up small to fairly larger small holes in the radiator, block, and engine components that are in the cooling system. Now for the cost of a radiator, that could from you from $45.00 at a parts yard to $200.00 for a new one. If it is your water pump that might run from $35.00 to $75.00 But try the Bars Leak. As I said, it could save you some money.

I was in a simaliar situation with my 96' ford tarus I put Stop Leak just how you did but that didnt work, my engine was over heating very qiuckly so I toke it to some cheap mechanic who didnt fix it at all...soon my car had over heated so much that it wouldnt run, plus I needed a new transmission on top of that. I gave it to my cousin the car is praticully worthless now its so ****** up. I drive a black f-150 with bang and rims now but I miss my old slab..I had so many memorys traveling around the state. I recomend that you get it fixed pronto ..dont drive it if its smoking not even a bit. Good luck.

The top plastic tank of the radiator probably has a hairline crack which would show a seam type leakage after driving approximately 20 to thirty minutes. Shop for a new radiator at www.rockauto.com or call 1-866-762-5288 www.radiators.com or call 1-800-248-8720

Get yourself a package of duc seal its a putty that can be found at a hardware store. When the radiator is cool to the touch putty up the hole. When the putty hardens up the you can drive the car. This should stop the leak for very little cost

Buy a new radiator. It's cheaper than a tow! I bought one a few months ago, $120 for the radiator and I installed in myself, in the parking lot of Autozone, 1100 miles from home!
