$4.00 - $5.00 per hour per kid. More if there is diaper changing involved. That is what I used to pay my babysitters.

$50 bucks. If you are going to leave the lives of your children in the hands of a young girl, you should pay her well. Do not base the pay by her age. If you want a job well done, pay at a good rate so the next time you need a sitter, last minute or not, you will have someone good on hand. Plus she is young, so that extra ten or fifteen bucks above what everyone else is suggesting, will go a long way to her.

She will also go the extra mile, handling IE: Dishes, cleaning, meals, bedtime, etc [if not you can always suggest it]

Its worth the money, unless you have her around more than once month......then I could see paying her in a smaller amount because she steadily sits for you :)

Have fun!
Thats wonderful you two are getting some alone time!

Well, to watch two kids for 5 hours, I would say $40. I used to babysit a few years back and I was paid at least $4 - 5 an hour.

bundle of problems couldn't have said it better. my 16 year old daughter was babysitting for a single mom with two kids...the youngest a boy, was out of control. she would bring the kids to my place, not send any snacks and never pick the kids up on time and throw my daughter a measly 15 bucks. i told my daughter never again. now she baby sits for another woman with three well behaved kids at the woman's house and gives my daughter $50. my daughter goes the extra mile and even cleans the house...something the mother does not request or expect. when my kids were little , i always paid approx. five dollars per hour and kept the house full of food. you get what you pay for.

That depends on if your kids will be sleeping the entire time or if she will be required to feed them dinner.

for 2 kids for 5 hours I think $30-$40

2 sons would be difficult for 5 hours. $20 would be a bit of a rip-off, but you don't want to bankrupt yourself either! Go with whatever you'd ask if you were her, or ask her.

If that doesn't help, anywhere from $25-$40 is good

Things are much different today. Were we used to settle for $10 they now require at least $30 - $35.
You can also always tip her if she's done an extraordinary job!!! It's always good to have a trustworthy sitter on your side. Makes life so much easier!!
