Yes - many years ago, I gave the money for our lunch to my friend for a meal. We were well known in the restaurant, they knew where we worked and lived, and we had been sitting talking to the manageress and a member of staff about my friends forthcoming wedding and inviting them to come if free to do so, when we realised it was time for our bus to pull out and if missed we would have to wait all of an hour plus. This meant we would be late for work and bang would go jobs, accomodation and wedding plans. We jumped up hugged every one and ran for it (forgetting her new shoes!) as we sat down on the bus my friend said 'Oh Criky look I've still got the food money in my hand'. I said 'don't worry' they will realise what has happened and in any case I will ring when we get back home and take it in on Saturday morning'. Arriving at the door we found the Police car waiting for us!. We were in the police station on the Saturday being given a caution having been back to the restaurant and paid the bill (we had the receipt) as we had fully intended to do (the manageress refused the police's request to drop it as obviously no fraud had been intended.) I took it calmly because I had not been holding the money so in effect I had tendered the money for it to my friend, but she poor love was sobbing her heart out. Needless to say when we then discussed the reception we did not consider that restaurant, as we had done previously, as a venue!
