When my car is parked, is it bad to lift the windshield whippers up in the air so that they do not get caught under the snow and the window is easier to clean off

it doesn't hurt the wipers at all to be left up ( not in contact with the windsheild). However, if you're afraid of some local kids breaking the wipers off, you could always place a sheet of cardboard between the wipers and the windsheild. This keeps the ice and snow from accumulating on the windsheild, possibly saving you from having to scrape them off later after a snow storm. and also keep your wipers from freezing to the glass.

Well, I don't know about leaving your whippers up, but leaving your wipers up might leave for some less aggravation in the morning...especially for someone who doesn't own a snow brush : )

It's a great idea in a perfect world but some snot faced kid may think it's an open invitation to do damage to your car.
