I LOVE history - especially of colonial America. I was just reading The Declaration of Independence and noticed that so many words are capitalized. Why is this? Is it just that it was proper grammer in those days?

It was typical especially in that era because English has Germanic roots, and many nouns in German are capitalized. After we parted with England, we changed some of the language structure and pronunciation.
