What do you expect in the new movie Sweeney Todd?

I saw the film on Tuesday and I can assure you you will get a great story and great singing.

The musical numbers were fantastic. The songs are great and the actors are capable of carrying a tune. Johnny Depp has a great voice. Sounds more like a rock star than a broadway actor, but it definitely worked. The performances from everyone were great. There was some comedic elements, but it definitely will be remembered for the gore.

I will warn you that the movie is VERY bloody. Tim Burton pulled no punches with the death scenes. They were very explicit.

Overall, I'd give it a 9 out of 10.

I expect that it will be beautifully photographed, have some great moments and be wonderful in all but one aspect, whatever thing Tim Burton just can leave alone. I love his films, but when he works from established stiff, he always makes some bizarre change which detracts. Like Willie Wonka. Depp was a pretty good Wonka, the story, where it was true to the book was wonderful, but he had to put that stupid "lost Father" thing into it. It would have been a good idea for another movie, but it really detracted from the Willie Wonka story. And I'm talking about the book. He was very close on most stuff, but I wanted to see the original ending, where Wonka brings the family to the factory and he and Charlie go into space to fight the Vermiculous Knids. It was almost heartbreaking that this didn't happen.

I know he's going to do something silimar with Sweeney Todd, and since this is my favorite musical, I'm thinking I won't see it until I know.

You've got a bunch of great qualities that will make this movie amazing:
a.) Tim Burton. He has an amazing imagination and most all of his movies are a success.
b.) Johnny Depp. Not only is he a fantastic actor he also has an incredible fan base that will be bringing in loads of audiences to see the movie.

The only problem that I suspect is that it's rated R so many middle school aged and high school aged girls will not be able to get in.

I suspect it will do great.

I expect Johnny Depp to be as handsome and entertaining as ever, and one more wonderful reason to fall in love with Alan Rickman, like I needed another reason, lol Even though I know he is playing a bad guy, he is and will remain my favorite actor. That is the icing on the cake.
The main course is the story line, which looks really interesting.

This is based on my very favorite musical!

Now, before everybody gets all weird about the word "musical", you should know that this is a musical that's about mass murder and cannibalism. So it's not exactly The Sound of Music!

The music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim, the best composer and lyricist of our time, and they are creepy and funny and terrific!

But I have no idea how they can possibly make this a movie, since the whole play was song through, with very, very little dialog. (I bet Tim Burton can do it if anyone can.)

Can't wait to see it!

I agree with you about a good story. I am not sure about the singing, though.
I saw a short promo for it and Johnny was singing and it didn't sound horrible...

I expect Johnny D to play the character more straight than funny, just like he did with Willy Wonka. We'll see!

Ahh! i cant wait until that movie comes out especially if its directed by tim burton!! he makes such great movies..and of course johnny depp is in it..he is such a good actor i think the movie will be fantastic!
