I'm writing a 7-10 page research paper on Thomas Jefferson's presidency. I need to come up with my own thesis, and it cannot be something as simple as proving whether or not he was effective as a President. Does anybody have any idea for what my thesis could be?

Look at the legislations, laws, codes, ideas and the like that Thomas Jefferson implemented during his Presidency and a) how they are still being used today on some level and b) how they compare with today's Oval Office policies.

Happy history to you!

Thomas Jefferson was the main guy that wrote the Declaration of Independence, the Louisiana Purchase was during his presidency...as was the Lewis and Clark Expedition. he supported the separation of church and state.
you might try starting with his epitath...
'Here was buried Thomas Jefferson
Author of the Declaration of the American Independence
Of the Statute of Virginia for Religious Freedom
And Father of the University of Virginia'
