Why should we have the Democratic and Republican parties instead of choosing the right guy/woman?

for example:

people who are democratic vote only for democrats not even giving a republican a chance? or the other way around theres no difference. To me i think people should stop voting for sum1 jus b/c they are democtratic/republican, and look at the 1 who will lead this country right.

Well, anyone is free to run, people have run from such diverse points such as communist or socialist parties, Independants, green, pretty much any standing you can imagine.

Even David Duke, former Grand Wizard of the KKK took a run at the presidency.

A LOT of people do just as you say. They are uneducated workers or the unemployed and they live from paycheck to paycheck. Most can't read above the level of an 8th grader yet they vote and under all the BS, pick our leaders. At least that is the way it is meant to be. But I think deep down we all know the truth. If the truth was truly known, the current chimp would NOT have been elected in 2000 and possibly there would have been no 9/11. It is a struggle between those that have POWER and those that have AUTHORITY and the few who have both. One could write volumes about this.
Let me say, if one does not understand the political process and the way in which we elect our leaders, SHOULD NOT VOTE! It takes a lot of education (BA/BS minimum) to understand it and appreciate it. It isn't as simple as party politics (although some want you to believe that concept). The idea of party politics is as old as time, because negotiation is involved in our every step we take everyday.
If your not a big dog - stay on the porch!!!

"Republicrats" have created a monopolistic, corrupt two-party political system that maintains a stranglehold on the voters' freedom of choice. Media 'darlings' like Al Franken and Rush Limbaugh brainwash their listeners into believing they are either 'cons' or 'libs', and most people don't even know the true definitions of the artificial labels they've attached to themselves just because they're 'ditto heads' or 'fans'. So - to make it look legitimate - the Democrats and Republicans 'switch off' every few years and promise to make the changes that never get made.
"Republicrats" prefer 'business as usual', and they will do everything in their power to prevent some independent party or some grassroots movement to take hold and destroy the privileged royalty to which they've become very, very accustomed. -RKO- 12/13/07
