The Gold Coast is also inexpensive. Not as nice as the Orleans but the good part about the Gold Coast is that it is strategically placed next to two "party" casinos - The Rio and The Palms. You are still close enough to walk there and party but not have to pay the outrageous prices to stay there.

If you don't mind staying off the Strip, try South Point, 9977 S. Las Vegas Blvd.
We stayed there last May for like $ 70 a night. It's way south of the Strip (Mandalay Bay is at 3950 S. Las Vegas Blvd) so we're talking like 60 blocks. They have shuttles that run to Mandalay Bay, but that's as far as they go. But, you can get on the trams and move up and down the strip from there if needed.
It's a very nice hotel -- very quiet. They have a nice poker room, a nice pool, good food, comfortable beds, etc. Our last three days in Vegas we didn't leave the hotel.

The Luxor hotel is having some web discounts on line. I am stayign there for New Years Eve and the price was ok compared to all the other ones. Plus I think they might give a discount if you book the room from their website but find a better price from another website. I think that they will match the discounted price plus a little more. Try and work it that way if you find a cheaper price at another website. Good Luck

A really great site to find deals on hotels is with "18K Travel"
http://www.ytbtravel.com/18ktravel
On the "hotels" section of the website, use "hot rate hotels". Some of the hotels listed will have a 110% guarantee. All the details are provided.
They have a great prices and a lot of selections.

Excaliber is not a bad hotel...it is not great either. It is just good. If you are looking 'cheap' and on the strip check out the stratosphere. It is a bit of a walk from everything else on the strip but it is also very inexpensive. The least expensive on the strip will be Circus Circus. Don't really recommend it though. Lots of screaming kids, lots of people walking the halls that look pretty shady. Of these three Excaliber is your best option but Circus Circus will be your least expensive.

I normally stay at one of the Harrahs properties. Harrahs has a comp system called Total Rewards which I've found to be better than some of the other casino rewards programs but it works well since I also travel to Atlantic City and stay at the Harrah's properties there.
Harrahs on Las Vegas strip has renovated rooms and is centrally located.
I've not had to pay for a room since I joined Harrahs 8 years ago.
Also, there are pretty good flight/hotel packages on major airline websites and travel sites like Travelocity.com.

imperial palace is pretty cheap. i think casino royale is even cheaper... no idea what their rooms are like. stratosphere, riviera and sahara are a little farther up the strip, so theyre usually a bit cheaper too.
If stayin on the strip isn't important, i suggest finding a room downtown. You can easily find a 30 dollar hotel down there. We don't stay on the strip anymore, as its too crowded and annoying. We love downtown!
if you're bookin a flight with the hotel, use usairwayvacations.com... its got the best packaged deals i've seen

Go to www.sidestep.com and put in the dates you are looking at. They will search all the other websites for the best prices. Just check for price on the search results instead of popularity. They will take you to the actual site to book it and they don't charge any additional fees. Saves a lot of time and money.
