When I became an adult, no, but I do remember when I became old.

I was walking on a University Campus a few years ago and I saw this cute young lady walking towards me. I slowed my pace, gave her the once over and caught myself thinking, "Oh baby, I wonder what her mom looks like?"

I then thought, "Oh God, I'm Old, I'm Old!"

Actually in my 25 years of being an adult I have had very few occasions where I really feel like an adult because I so much enjoy being a child. However, I think that the first real moment I had of knowing without a doubt that I am old is when I turned down a night of partying so that I could catch up on writing.

im 24 now, but when i was 20 i was still referred to as the children generation aka the grandchildren generation even though i was 20. however my neighbor who was 18 had a child and my parents and everyone started referring to the child as 'the child' and it dawned on me at 20 that i could technically have a 2 year old. then shortly i turned 21 and i realized 'i am no longer the young/baby generation' im in the adult generation i could be a parent technically. it sadden me honestly. i get home late and i miss the days of be home before the streetlights turn on and being tucked into bed by mom and dad =-(

When my dad had a heart attack and died, and then my mom started having heart problems. By that time I was well into adulthood, and even had my own child, but it never really hit me until I lost a parent, and thought I might lose another. That kind of reality sucks, and it sure does wake you up.

I'll let you know when it happens. Although I did finally get my first debit card earlier this year, and I felt just so grown up when I used it to pay our restaurant check last week.
