It always makes national news as if a nuclear bomb went off there, and they report school closings, gridlocked traffic, and general chaos in every way. They said that not even half a foot has fallen in most places yet. What's their deal? Don't they ever get snow there?

catiebug_19 - I'm Minnesotan, too. And this isn't a one-horse town with no traffic, as some are trying to say. The fact is that there's been snow on the ground here for almost a month, almost a foot in my back yard, and we never make the news.

Your right its like they all freak out over a lil snow!
In MN were out and about untill the snow piles up higher than the cars....heck most minnesotans would still be out even if the snow got that high.
A lil snow aint nothin.....east coasters need to learn how to drive!

You will find doing business in Asia to be more of a headache than you think. Your "partners" will rob you blind, your quality will go into the toilet, and in the end your savings will be minimal. And for what? So you can export jobs that pay a decent wage to a third-world country where they'll lock the workers in the factory when the managers go home at night? Your best bet is to go along with it. If the workers want to unionize, neither obstruct nor support. Run an open shop and let the employees decide whether they want to go union or not. If you are already a fair employer, then what difference will it make whether all of the compensation packages are negotiated at once or on a person-by-person basis?

The roads are real slippery and the tractor trailer trucks are jack knifing on the highways and blocking traffic. This is the first significant snowstorm this year. We used to get a lot of snow here. Not as often anymore. So, we're national, eh? Cool.

I grew up in New England and we never "shut the state down" for 6" or a foot or 2. I think it is the Mid-Atlantic region (which I have since moved to) that has a crisis when it snows. And, that is where our nations capital is.

We have snow almost every day of the winter here (NY state), and it doesn't "shut everything down", except in cases, like today, where 6 inches fell in three hours, and visibilty was about ten feet. If you west-coast folks are so tough, be my guest - come over here and drive around in it.
EDIT - Oho, so you drive "when the snow is higher than the cars" do you? Well, so do we. But I'll bet you're doing it after the roads have been plowed, same as we are! Otherwise, that's something I would like to see...

Because in the midwest you can drive for a half-hour on the highway and not see another car.
In the east, your talking major traffic problems and no snow tires.

lol YES! I live on Long Island and its just slush. Its not even enough to cover the ground, meanwhile everybodys closed, etc. I had to laugh when they called it a blizzard.
