stamps on Antique Sterling silver?

Question

I bought an antique sterling silver cigarette box. On the bottom, it has what appears to be a very small conch shell. is this a silversmith logo/stamp? Or something like a lion passant or 929 stamp? What does this mean and can I find out how old it is?
