Despite the claims of 19th and 20th-century racist thinkers, the Aryans were not a race or distinct biological group. The term Aryan is a linguistic one. The Aryans were originally, herders and nomads who spoke one variant of a group of related Ind-European languages. They lived in the area between the Caspian and Black seas. They migrated from their homelands into Asia Minor and eventually Europe in the 3rd and 2nd millennia B.C and soon after eastward toward present day Iran and the Indus valley.

Hitler misread the Aryan teachings. He only picked up the caste system (which the Hindus adapted). He admired the Nordic peoples (Scandinavians) and in his mind they were Aryans. There were lighter-skinned people (related to Circassians I believe) in the Indus River area.
